“There are new rocks outside of the school for you to give away to someone in your life that needs one. Please take a photo of yourself and who you gave it too, and share it with us so we can put it on the Shullsburg Facebook page. (send photos to sschollmeyer@shullsburg.k12.wi.us)
You might have noticed some small acts of kindness around the school.
The painted rocks you may see as you walk in or out of the school are part of a kindness rock project the art students have been working on. These rocks are for you to take one when you need one. Feel free to share one with a friend who needs some inspiration, or feel free to make one of your own too.
I am so proud of the fifth grade and junior high students that worked hard to make these. Your kind acts will not go unnoticed.
You will find the rocks in front of the school sign and also in a few other outdoor locations. “

They still have children's flu for ages 3-18 regardless of insurance, and 6 months-3 years for children with no insurance, on badgercare or if their insurance will not cover the flu vaccine.

Mr. Strang took his Wisconsin History students on an adventure. They visited the Strawbridge Tunnel "hole in the wall" near New Diggings. In the early 1900's a railway line transported zinc to the Galena-Plattville line.
They also visited The Point of Beginnings in Hazel Green where the entire state of Wisconsin was surveyed, starting in 1831. The day was followed up with bacon wrapped venison.

Attention Parents/Guardians - Please check your email and Skyward account for important information sent out today.

Good Afternoon:
I have been asked by Jerry Huffman of the U.S. Census Bureau, to ask that all schools distribute the information below to parents, facebook, etc.,, to get the word out if you would please. The deadline is fast approaching.
Much appreciated.
Thank you.
Carla Jacobson
Lafayette County Clerk
Parents:
Our kids need your help. And it will take you about ten minutes.
For more than a year, the US Census Bureau has been working in Wisconsin to count every person who lives here.
Knowing the exact population of Lafayette County is critical. The federal government uses this number to distribute federal funds that directly impact our schools. Most importantly, the government helps underwrite the cost of our lunch and breakfast programs. If our population count is off by even 5%-10% that loss of service may dictate how many children we can feed every day.
In addition to the meal programs, the Census also impacts special education grants, technical education, and Title 1 grants.
If you haven't already, I am personally asking each of you to fill out your Census forms. You can go online at 2020Census.gov and answer a few questions. You can also call 1-844-330-2020 and do it by telephone. If you prefer Spanish, please call 1-844-468-2020. The entire process will take about ten minutes.
I cannot emphasize how important it is to participate. Whether you're a grandfather or grandmother, have never had any children in the school system and it's especially important to count every child in your home. Every person counts.
The Census is shutting down its operation a month early so you only have until September 30th to comply.
Please, help us help our children.

So, why books? Why do so many people love and care about these stacks of paper covered in ink? This is a huge question, and William Joyce does a great job through text and illustration to answer it in today's story.
