The School District of Shullsburg is looking for volunteers (staff, parents, students, and community members) to be a part of committees to assist in making recommendations to the Shullsburg School Board. We are looking for assistance in three areas; 2023-24 school calendar, long-range facility planning, and strategic planning around A Portrait of a Graduate. Descriptions of each committee are listed below, followed by a link to enter your name as a volunteer for one or more of the committees. Persons chosen to serve on a committee(s) will be contacted late November or early December.

Calendar Committee

Objective: This committee will assist in finalizing a 2023-24 school calendar recommendation for the Shullsburg Board of Education. The committee’s responsibility is to construct a school calendar that best addresses the needs of the educational community while meeting State requirements.

Duration: Two to three meetings with a recommendation going to the Board for approval at the January or February meeting.

Facility Committee

Objective: This committee will develop a long-range facility plan recommendation for the Shullsburg Board of Education. This committee will construct a plan from the information gathered through a facility needs assessment (completed in October), the previous five year plan, and facility or program enhancements generated by staff, school board, parents, students, and other interested members or groups from the community.

Duration: Minimum of five meetings with a recommendation going to the Board for approval by the June 2023 meeting.

A Portrait of a Graduate Committee

Objective: This committee will develop the first step (The Portrait of a Graduate) in framing a vision for the Shullsburg school system. The Portrait of a Graduate serves as a strategic plan for system transformation. Providing strategic direction for the redesign of the overall educational experience for students. This committee will assist in developing the structure (The Portrait of a Graduate) that provides students with the competencies (skills) and opportunities needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Duration: Minimum of five meetings as well as reviewing of resource materials between meetings. A recommendation to the Board is planned for June but could be pushed to Fall depending on the progress made during the spring meetings.
